From January to March, gray whales congregate in large numbers in their breeding lagoons along the Pacific coast of Baja, Mexico. This concentration provides incomparable opportunities for whale watching by kayak and close encounters. We join the whales on our 5 day kayak trips to a beautiful stretch of coastline near Scammon's Lagoon. You will be treated to one of the animal kingdoms most spectacular shows, miles of exceptional beach combing, a gentle point break to surf your kayak, and delicious meals prepared for you each day! The cost of your trip includes 3 1/2 days of guided kayaking activity and instruction, all kayaking gear, and all camp meals.
Day 1: 6:00 am: Meet at Aqua Adventures (1548 Quivira Way, San Diego, CA 92109) to load personal gear and caravan approximately 10 hours to the location. Limited transportation may be available in our truck for $100/person.
Day 2: After a morning of instruction, we will paddle the coast in search of gray whales in their winter home. By approaching with respect and following a few basic rules of whale watching, we can maximize our chances of safe close encounters.
Day 2-3: We will spend our mornings whale watching with our afternoons free for exploring the deserted coves and islands or for surfing one of the most gentle waves of any of our ocean trips. Our optional trip to Scammon's Lagoon costs $25/person.
Day 5: For those who still have not gotten enough paddling, you will be free to do so in the morning. We'll break camp and head home by 10:00 am.
