Jake Stachovak presents his adventures on his Portage to Portage Expedition so far! Jake will be catching up with friends, teaching classes, presenting his adventures and running the symposium! We're looking forward to having him around for a while!

Duane Strosaker will be demonstrating Greenland Rope Gymnastics! Once used by the Inuit to stay in shape for hunting from their kayaks, Greenland rope gymnastics are now used in competitions to keep Inuit traditions alive. Think of it as Inuit parallel bars. Its fun, a great way to stay in shape, and the various exercises develop the type of strength, endurance, balance and coordination that will improve your kayaking. Entertaining for spectators and lots of fun to try! Check the schedule at symposium headquarters for times!

Try the latest craze in watersports: stand-up paddleboarding! This is a cool revival of an ancient Polynesian pasttime. Paddling an extra wide surf board from a standing position with a long, single bladed paddle has lots of fit and fun benefits. You can paddle on almost any body of water inculding flatwater ponds and lakes, ocean waves, and whitewater rivers. Join the Werner Paddle rep, world class whitewater kayaker Dan Gavere, for a demonstration and clinic of this intriguing new sport down at the demo beach. There will be posted times at symposium headquarters, but you can ask to try out his boards anytime!

Welcome to the official website of the Eighth Annual Southwest Kayak Symposium, held in San Diego on beautiful Mission Bay. Thanks to your continued support, this is fast becoming one of the premier kayaking celebrations on the west coast! A great line-up of the top instructors from far and wide, exhibits and product demos by top manufacturers, affordable waterfront accomodations, proximity to world famous attractions like the San Diego Zoo and Sea World, and a festive atmosphere are the makings of a great event.

Aqua Adventures Kayak Center will have great deals on kayaks and gear, so when you find one you like, you can take it home with you! We'll have representatives from Thule to rack your car too! There will be some really outstanding deals and dozens and dozens of kayaks to choose from, so if you've been thinking about buying a kayak, this is the best opportunity this spring!

Those new to kayaking will find out what all the fuss is about with ample opportunity to learn about the

sport and all its various facets. Better still is the opportunity to try more kayaks in one place than anywhere else in the southwest! Seasoned paddlers will find an exciting forum for exchanging ideas and learning a few new tricks from world class instructors from the Pacific NW, Florida, Holland, and Wales as well as our local talent!
